María Sánchez, una shop steward desde hace años en el Centro de Convenciones de Anaheim, fue despedida injustamente el año pasado; sin embargo, gracias a la mediación, recuperó su trabajo sin perder su antigüedad y recibió el pago de un año completo retroactivo de salarios atrasados y beneficios. ¡Bien hecho, María!
Victoria en el Anaheim Hilton
En el Anaheim Hilton, la empresa estaba reteniendo las propinas en efectivo de los camareros y los bartenders y dándoselas en sus cheques de pago cada dos semanas. Sin embargo, esas propinas pertenecían a los trabajadores, quienes deberían tener acceso a dicho dinero en el momento en que reciben la propina. Los trabajadores llevaron el caso a arbitraje y ganaron el derecho de retener sus propinas, sin tener que esperar dos semanas para recibir el dinero ¡Sí se pudo!

¡PROTESTAS DE NO KINGS EN AZ, OC Y DTLA!
El 28 de marzo de 2026, se estima que 8 millones de personas participaron en más de 3300 protestas bajo el lema «No Kings» en los 50 estados de los EE. UU. y en varias localidades internacionales. ¡El Local 11 participó en tres protestas: en AZ, en OC y en DTLA! En Los Angeles, recolectamos firmas para imponer un impuesto a CEOs con salarios excesivos; En Phoenix, junto con Worker Power, pedimos a la gente que enviara una carta a la ASU solicitando que no pagaran salarios de pobreza a sus trabajadores de cafetería; y en Anaheim, nuestra co-presidenta Ada Briceño se dirigió a los manifestantes mientras nosotros recolectábamos firmas para la petición para imponer más impuestos a los multimillonarios.

“It’s difficult to overstate the significance of last week’s final approval of a $233 million settlement between the Walt Disney Co. and the tens of thousands of Disneyland employees whom the company has underpaid for years.
This is a battle that dates to 2018, when Anaheim voters passed a measure — backed by a coalition of unions — that was squarely intended to force the House of Mouse to pay workers something approaching a living wage. Instead, Disney resisted the law for years before finally being held accountable.”
