JOB OPENING: GRIEVANCE ADMINISTRATOR
UNITE HERE Local 11 represents nearly 35,000 workers in the hospitality and multi-service industries throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties in California and in Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona. UNITE HERE Local 11 has four offices in California (Los Angeles, Garden Grove, Inglewood, and Long Beach) and one in Phoenix, Arizona. The main office is located at 464 S Lucas Ave, Suite 201, Los Angeles, CA 90017. This position works primarily from the main office in Los Angeles.
GRIEVANCE ADMINISTRATOR
Job Responsibilities
include but are not limited to the following:
- Complete multiple responsibilities on a daily basis
- Greet members at the front desk window to collect incident reports/grievance requests.
- Master the grievance portal, which is used to send and file all grievance-related correspondence for the local
- Train staff on using the grievance portal
- Written and verbal communication with members, staff, and employers
- Translate written text from English to Spanish and vice versa
- Correspond with Companies on various matters
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements/Qualifications
The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required for the position:
- Experience with enforcing a collective bargaining agreement through grievances
- Strong desire to work for a movement-building organization that fights for the rights of workers and immigrants.
- Knowledge of office management systems and procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Mac & PC
- Working knowledge of office equipment e.g., printers, fax machines, and copiers
- Demonstrated excellent organizational skills and high capacity for attention to detail
- Typing at or above 60–70 wpm
- Proficient data entry
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
- Ability to work independently within the context of a plan
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; must work well with others
- Bilingual English/Spanish
