We are more than 32,000 workers across Southern California and Arizona, and we campaign constantly to improve our workplaces, organize new workers, and build power for working people in our communities. Check out these highlights from our union’s recent victories and learn about all the different ways we are getting stronger in a union.

Universal Hilton Workers Ratify their First Union Contract

Congratulations to the workers of the Universal Hilton, who ratified their first union contract at 100%! With this incredible new contract, workers go from paying 100% for their health insurance to only paying 20% and the company pays the rest. Workers also won a pension and access to the legal fund. And housekeepers will continue to benefit from the Hotel Worker Protection and the Worker Retention ordinances Local 11 helped pass, capping workloads to 8 rooms per shift and protecting them from losing their jobs.

Support Pregnant Women at the long Beach Yacht Club

Two workers at the Long Beach Yacht Club filed complaints with the California Civil Rights Department for the alleged sex-based harassment the two mothers endured while working at the Yacht Club. Both allege that the private club failed to respond appropriately to repeated complaints of sex-based harassment, specifically against pregnant women, that took place over the course of multiple years at the private club.

BMO Stadium Workers Ratify Their Second Union Contract

Workers at BMO Stadium ratified a great new contract that will expire April 30, 2028. The contract covers over 350 workers and includes $12.00-$15.00 increases for non-tipped workers, resulting in final rates of $30.00–$35.00. It also includes retroactive pay and bonuses from 2025 to the present.
A new catering event service charge will be paid directly to catering staff, and there is a 1% service charge increase for suite runners. Concession stands will now feature tip screens with a highlighted 20% suggestion. The contract also improves on health care and pension benefits, and includes a housing fund and participation in the union’s legal fund.

Launching New Contract Negotiations at SOFI Stadium

Workers at SoFi Stadium started negotiating their new contract. One of the demands is that FIFA—for the security of workers and fans alike—keeps ICE  out the stadium during the upcoming World Cup games.

Victory at the Anaheim Hilton

Over at the Anaheim Hilton the company was holding on to the server’s and bartender’s cash tips and adding them to their paychecks every two weeks. But those tips belonged to the workers who should have access to the money the moment they are tipped. The workers took it to arbitration and won the right to keep their tips and not have to wait two weeks before receiving the money. Sí se pudo!

Disney Negotiations Update

Once again workers at Disney and the company met to discuss various proposals, including an economic proposal. Stay tuned for further details!

New York Times: Infantino and FIFA discuss asking President Trump for moratorium on World Cup ICE raids

FIFA received strike threats from thousands of workers at SoFi Stadium, the tournament’s host venue in Los Angeles… with ICE topping the list of concerns outlined by the local union as it negotiates a new bargaining agreement. The advocacy group Human Rights Watch last week also called on FIFA to “seek a public guarantee from federal authorities to refrain from immigration enforcement at games and venues.”

The Flying Food Group Truth Commission

Airline catering workers employed by Flying Food Group at Los Angeles International Airport publicly shared their experiences before a Truth Commission at Holman United Methodist Church. Hundreds of workers and community leaders came together to share powerful truths on safety, sexual harassment, and retaliation at the workplace . Fifteen speakers told their stories that had been waiting to be heard and shared. Tellingly, the church where we held the Truth Commission was the church where our beloved our Reverend James Lawson was the pastor.

On March 28, 2026, an estimated 8 million people participated in over 3,300 “No Kings” protests across all 50 U.S. states and in several international locations. Local 11 participated in three protests, in AZ, in OC, and in DTLA! In Los Angeles we gathered signatures For the Overpaid CEOs tax, in Phoenix we teamed with Worker Power and asked people to send a letter to ASU asking them not to pay poverty wages to their cafeteria workers, and in Anaheim our Co-President Ada Briceño addressed the protesters while we collected signatures for the billionaire tax petition.

BREAKING NEWS: On Eve of Trial, Flying Food Group Admits to Violating Worker Rights, in Settlement of Major Labor Case

Flying Food Group, an airline caterer for major airlines that has been at the center of controversy for allegations of unsafe conditions and labor abuse, agreed to settle a high-profile case at the National Labor Relations Board.

In a highly unusual step, Flying Food Group was required to admit that it had violated workers’ federal labor law protections as part of the settlement.  The outcome is considered a major victory for workers who have been speaking out about what they have alleged is abusive treatment at work.

The day before Flying Food Group workers testified at LA City Council about the fire they experienced in their workplace in January, which coincidentally was the 115th anniversary of the deadly Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. This fire was one of the deadliest industrial disasters in U.S. history, causing the deaths of 146 garment workers—123 women and girls and 23 men. UNITE HERE is a proud successor union to the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, the union to which some Triangle factory workers belonged.
